I think your music is something like a combination of Black Metal themes and very melancholic and hopeless aspects. How would you describe your music? -I would describe it as Roberto on an advertisement of Throes Of Dawn: unique, atmospheric, epic dark metal. Our music has lots of emotions and atmosphere in it. although our music is very melodic, our roots are still firmly in black metal.. 2. The titles of "Binding Of The Spirit" sound very spiritual. Plays spirituality an important role in your lifes? -Well, the spirituality is actually more like a metaphor for mind. So, spirituality itself is not important to me on a personal level, but the mind is. 3. What could you tell me about the lyrics of "Binding Of The Spirit"? - Our lyrics are quite different, when compared to average bm band. There are lots of symbolism, personal stuff and fantasies in them. I try to approach things from a bit different view.. you can say things in many different ways.. 4. What is the main essence behind your music? What would you like to express with it? -I want our music to reach certain atmospheres, I want it to sound dark and emotionional. The music has to be melancholic, it has to be the same style as the lyrics are. I see our music as a somekind of artwork, and we(the band) are the painters. We wanted to capture melancoly into this "painting" 5. As I have mentioned, your music delivers very thoughtful and melancholic moments. Why do you write music? Is the composing process something like a selftherapy? -We like to create music, we wouldn´t do this if we wouldn´t like to do it.. The music may also have some therapic effects on us, but that´s not conscious anyway... 6. How would you describe your developement during the years? Where do you see the differences between your recordings? -Our debut album "Pakkasherra" was very technical, immature and raw metal, with touches of other styles here and there. The music itself is very good, but the poor production ruined it."Dreams of the Black Earth" was more like this new album, only it didn´t have as good sounds and the album was not completely working due to a few songs, which were quite different.. But now on "Binding of the Spirit" we have succeeded in many ways better, than on those previous albums. My vocals have never before succeeded so well, and the sounds are brilliant too. 7. I suppose, that Keyboards play an important role in your sound. Are the Keyboardsounds the ?main? element of your sound? Do you compose on Keyboards? Do you think that they are the best instruments to create emotions? -We use a lot of keyboards, so they play a big role on our music, but I wouldn´t say that there is any "main" instrument in our music. Surely, the keyboards are important to us, but they don´t make all of the music. It would be fun to test our music with real stringplayers like on THERION´s "Vovin"! That would be really interesting.. Hmmm, maybe some day... 8. I think emotions play an important role in your music. What do you feel while you compose music / listen to your records? -Yes, they do. But it´s hard for me to sense these things from our music, since I have been so involved with this creation process.. I have heard all those riffs and songs thousands of times, on rehearsals, in the studio etc. But, if I take some distance to it, like I don´t listen to it for a month, and then when I listen to it, it just blows my mind away! I did this recently, and I´m very pleased to the outcome, it sounds just like we wanted it to be! 9. Let us look into the future! Do you have ideas for new songs? What would they sound like? Are there great differences between "Binding Of The Spirit" and the new ones? -Oh yes, there are few songs soon ready for the fourth album, and there are no great differences, of course there will be development, but it´s hard to say anything firm at this point. 10. Is there a chance to see Throes Of Dawn performing some shows in Germany? -Hopefully, you will see us there.. There has been some plans of a mini-tour with the Finnish Finntroll, but nothing is sure yet... everything is still quite open, but we will see about that. We should get a session synth player to play at our live shows.. 11. Do you have some last words for our readers? -Thank you for this intie!
